Abhinav Vasudevan is the editor and author of Wagering Terms, an independent glossary of gambling terminology covering sports betting, casino and table games, poker, slots, live casino, bingo, lottery, scratch cards, sweepstakes, fantasy sports, bonuses and regulation.

The remit is narrow on purpose: explain what a term means, show the arithmetic where money is involved, and say plainly where the term works against the reader. That is the opposite of how most gambling terminology is explained online, where the definition exists to sell a sign-up. This site carries no advertising, no affiliate links and no operator relationships, so there is nothing for a definition to soften.

Editorial responsibility

Every entry here is written and reviewed by one person, and that attribution is the point: there is somebody to hold to account for a wrong definition. Entries cite only regulators, safer gambling bodies, academic work and official game rules — never operator marketing or affiliate content — and each page carries the date it was last reviewed.
